This is a collection of images I’ve made over the years of Shelby Farms. Wikipedia describes the park as, “one of the largest urban parks in the United States. At a size of 4,500 acres, it covers more than five times the area of Central Park in New York City…“. Please click on the image to see the entire collection.
I watch this park throughout the seasons and try to capture its unique moments. The fog is my biggest muse here and the fall is the best time of year to capture it. I’m usually there in the wee hours of the morning looking for it and occasionally I’m rewarded with a very heavy and unusual display. You may notice the fog as a common theme in this collection.
The Pier to Nowhere image was taken in the fall of 2011 during one of the heaviest fogs I’ve ever seen there. The strong lines from the pier lead you directly into the ethereal fog and out into nowhere, where you mind is left to roam freely.
